flax in bloom started in October 2000, originally a five-piece band consisting of members Sussie Nielsen (vocals and bodhrán), Tim Goddard (vocals, wooden flute, whistles), Ditte Fromseier Mortensen (violin), Ciarán Doran (violin) and Rasmus Zeeberg (guitar). Not having time to hang around, they recorded their first demo CD in the November of that year.
Ciarán left the group in the spring of 2001 and we became a four-piece band.
In November 2001 Flax in Bloom gave a concert in the Round Tower, Copenhagen which provided the material for their next demo CD, excerpts from which could previously be downloaded from this site. The tracks that presently can be downloaded here come from the band´s latest demo which was recorded on the 2nd of July 2002.

In september 2002, Sussie left for Limerick in Ireland, to start a one year M.A. study i Irish Traditional Music Performance. When she returned with her Masters degree in hand, Ditte left to do the same thing. While she was away, we invited Sonnich Lydom to help us out. Tim and Sonnich used to play together in a band called Foxhunters, and have been playing in sessions together for the last 20 years. When Ditte came back in 2004 with her M.A. year successfully completed, we decided, once more, to make Flax in Bloom a five piece band. Here´s the current line-up.
